Bike Commute Diaries: Double Dutch Treat

19 May

If you know how to wiggle your way across San Francisco, you can ride a 50 pound Dutch bike from the Ferry Building to Ocean Beach without cursing the city’s famously steep hills. Congratulations to my husband Dick, proud new owner of a WorkCycles Secret Service from My Dutch Bike. It was love at first ride.

Hired bikes near the Ferry Building on our first trip to San Fran last year. When we told the guy we were heading for the Golden Gate park he told us to always follow the “wiggly signs” – best advice he could have given us! :-)

Yes, best advice ever. Bit of trivia: the Wiggle route follows what was once a stream bed that was forced underground when the streets were built. http://baynature.org/articles/web-only-articles/a-wiggle-in-time

Fix The Toaster

Nearly 32,000 Americans die in car crashes annually. 80% of car crashes are PREVENTABLE. If the TOASTER was killing that many people we'd think it was ridiculous. We'd un-plug it and say, let's Fix The Toaster.
