They’re named after hop-skip rhythmed polka dance, but more commonly worn in fiery foot-tapping flamenco. A polka dot dress in red chiffon, a helmet to match and ballet flats inspire girlish fun, whether you’re skipping through the field, tap dancing on the sidewalk or rolling down the street with the breeze kicking up your skirt.
Too short for work, this dress from ModCloth is perfect for meeting friends or weekend errands on a warm day.
- With a short, flyaway chiffon skirt, shorts are a must. Lace trim is a bonus.
- Butterfly sleeves keep it cool and keep delicate shoulders out of the sun.
- Big dots and little dots work together. The more the merrier.

Love the dress. One question – how do you keep your skirts down while cycling?

Every skirt is different and it’s hard to guess how they’ll do. Sometimes the lightweight ones stay down better than heavier ones that ride up. When it’s really windy I’ll often end up riding with a hand on my left thigh holding it down.
