Bike Commute Diaries: [No] Reading Railroad

27 Feb

Two weeks ago I bought Bike Snob’s second book to read on the train and I’m not halfway yet. I blame Eugene the climate scientist, Claire the writing instructor, John the transportation planner, Tim, Ashok, Nathan and others who ride Caltrain with me. It’s easy to put a good book down when Caltrain is full of interesting people.

About the Bike Commute Diaries: Launched in May 2012 for National Bike Month, this series explores the unexpected and surprising things I’ve learned about bicycling for transportation.

I loved the original Bike Snob, this encore not so much…

I’m reserving judgement on the book until I finish it. At this rate, could be months.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Since you’ve purchased Bike Snob’s second book, you liked the first? Looks like fun having a group on the train. My commute is solo, in the dark at about 6AM (though it’s getting lighter a bit). It’d be nice to ride with at least one other once in awhile.

I liked the first book. He has some sharp insights and snarky commentary which is why his blog has such a big following.

My former commute was solo. In two years I barely talked to anyone during the ride, except a couple of times I ran into someone I knew.

With the train + bike commute, I not only talk to people on the train, its also easier to talk to someone on the trail that was on the train with you. It’s like you have common ground already.
