As a cyclist, I would travel in the middle of the traffic lane until there is sufficient space on the right for me to be in a “bike lane” without the possibility of any car doors opening into it. If a bike lane is adjacent to car doors, I will ride at least three feet outside of that.
Do not compromise your safety on a bicycle for the convenience of others.
